Either I am CURSED because I tempted fate by making fun of the 27 Club… Or I am a huge spaz.

Just for the record: I did not draw my kitty cat differently from the other strips. I have four cats at my house– Asha, Zoot, Guinea and Amelia Pond. Asha has been in my other strips, because she’s my cat and lives in my room. It was Guinea I tripped on (he’s okay, BTW).

This week’s strip was SUPPOSED to be a sequel to last week’s. Sadly, it had to be a sequel to the week before.

Painkillers are awesome and allowed me enough no-pain time to get this week’s strip done. Hurray! I also felt an intense need to document what happened, especially since it fit so perfectly with my previous 27 Club strip.

I actually did not say the punchline at the site of the accident. I was in too much shock and trying to call Kevin Bolk on the phone to let him know what had happened. I did say it later when my arm pain started to flare up. What I did think (but did not say) at the accident was “Oh shit, I tempted fate by making fun of the 27 Club and destroyed Kevin’s car!”

But this incident did not induct me into the 27 Club. The only death was to the poor Liberalmobile. I would say you should buy Interrobang Studio’s comics to help pay for a new car, but you guys should be buying their comics anyway, because they’re DAMN FUNNY.

So yeah, here’s the explanation for what nearly delayed the Otherkind Pg 18. I slipped on a decorative pine cone that had fallen off a Christmas ornament.

I did get bruised up, but I do not blame ANYONE for laughing at what happened.

So quick, non-spoilery review past what I gave in the comic: I enjoyed it more than I did the first half of the book, but that’s not saying much, as I was not a big fan of the last few HP books. It was changed, but some of the changes were good ones, as I think the last couple books needed more editing than they got. Everything I said in the comic was factual. (Also, I thought Lucius, Xenophilius Lovegood and the head Snatcher were HOT *shallow*)

Yes, this is the worst curse I could wish upon someone.

This is very much a pet peeve of mine. Not just ’cause I would like money, but just in terms of rationalization. Most stuff you get in dealer’s room can be bought elsewhere (often for CHEAPER), but fans are insistent about going into the Dealer’s Room before they go to the Artist’s Alley, where they can get stuff they most likely will not be able to find elsewhere.

As you can imagine, I’ve heard this kinda stuff WAY too much. *off of soapbox*

(EDIT: I didn’t realize it before I did this strip, but I may have inadvertently suggested yaoi fans are particularly bad about this. This is not the case. I just drew the Random Fangirls from Bishounen Boys, since they are… Well, random.)

I recently got to see some of Van Gogh’s work when I went to the Met in New York. I was moved to tears by it and there’s not a lot of artists I can say that about.

I’m not NEARLY as naive as this strip suggests. In reality, my mother– while trying to make me feel better about my lack of success– said to me, “Van Gogh only sold two paintings in his lifetime.”

My snarky reply was, “Yeah, but the man died penniless and syphilitic of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Do I REALLY wanna emulate that?”

…Yeah, it’s funnier when I play the fool (hence why my depression rarely makes an appearance in the strip)

For the record, I was actually VERY good at getting inked. I didn’t find it to be that painful… I winced a few times when the needle got close to my underarm, but that was it. Thank you to my fantastic tattoo artist, Su Houston and the great people at North Star Tattoo for making the experience so enjoyable for me and to the wonderful Inky for finally pushing me to do something I’ve wanted for years.
